Hundreds of aggrieved 2016/2017 Alumni of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) are expected to picket at the campus this morning in protest against management delay in releasing their certificates to them having completed various courses in Higher National Diploma(HND) and Degree.

This is happening on the sidelines of council meeting ongoing on campus this morning.

The action by the past students is to mount torrid pressure on management of the University to immediately release their academic certificates to enable them seek employment and further their education.

Graduation of 2016/2017 batch of students is in limbo after the new Council Chairman for the University, Prof. Obeng Apori reportedly took a unilateral decision for audit to be conducted on the graduates over alleged suspicion of abuse in admission processes.

As a result, the University decided to hold two congregations on Saturday, 23rd June, 2018, including a congregation for Higher National Diploma and in addition, all Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) students who completed at the end of 2016/2017 academic year while  a second congregation was planned to be held at a date which was to be decided by the Council for HND students, who will not be graduated on 23rd June, 2018.

However the Governing Council of the Koforidua Technical University(KTU) suspended the entire 14th Congregation which was scheduled to take place on June 23, 2018 owing to some “unavoidable circumstances” beyond their control. – Kojo Ansah
