Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been struck by the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of the father of their esteemed midfielder, Richmond Lamptey.

The club confirmed the sad news, revealing that Richmond Lamptey's father passed away on Sunday night, although the cause of his demise remains undisclosed.

"Asante Kotoko is deeply saddened by the death of @RichmondLampt8's father, Mr. Odarkwei Lamptey, whose passing occurred last night.

The thoughts of everyone associated with the club are with our deputy skipper and his family," the club announced.

The 26-year-old central midfielder, Richmond Lamptey, had earned recognition as one of the most promising talents in the local football scene.

His exceptional performances earned him a spot among the three local players selected by former Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton for the 2023 AFCON tournament in Cote d'Ivoire.
