Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku has declared that the club will not finish the 2024/25 season without a trophy, affirming that winning silverware is a non-negotiable goal for the Porcupine Warriors.
Opoku made the bold statement following his stellar performance in Kotoko’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Dreams FC on Matchday 31 of the Ghana Premier League.
The 24-year-old forward scored twice and provided an assist, playing a crucial role as Kotoko closed the gap to just three points behind league leaders Nations FC with three matches left in the season.
Kotoko now sit fourth on the table with 54 points, still very much in contention for the title. Since returning to the club in December 2024, Opoku has hit top form, netting 10 goals across all competitions and reigniting the club's push for glory.
“We can’t go trophyless this season, no—it’s not happening,” Opoku told the media after the win. “We’re hoping that by the end of the season, we’ll lift a trophy. If not the league, then we must win the FA Cup for Asanteman.”
The Porcupine Warriors have already booked a place in the MTN FA Cup final, where they will face lower-tier side Golden Kick on June 15 at the University of Ghana Stadium. A victory would mark Kotoko’s 10th FA Cup title and be a significant step in restoring their dominance on the domestic scene.
With confidence soaring, the stakes high, and the backing of their loyal Kumasi fanbase, Kwame Opoku and Asante Kotoko are determined to end the season with a trophy in hand.
