Former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah has confirmed that he is currently locked in talks with the  Sudanese   Football Association over their vacant coaching role.

Appiah disclosed that  he  is  yet  to sign any contract despite the Sudanese FA suggesting he has signed but adds that he is waiting  for  the  blessings  of   His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II before accepting the role.

“There are currently talks with them (Sudan FA) but I am waiting for the approval and release of Otumfour Osei Tuu II” , James Kwesi Appiah told Ghanasportspage.com on Wednesday.

He will replace Yusuf Fartout who oversaw their disastrous AFCON 2023 qualifiers where they finished bottom of the group that had Gabon, Mauritania and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Kwasi Appiah had been working with Division One League side Kenpong FC until he was appointed as the head of the Asante Kotoko Interim Management Team by the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II.

He is currently contesting for a slot on the Ghana Football Association's Executive Committee but with his latest appointment it still remains unclear whether he will still pursue that dream.

Kwesi Appiah was the coach of Sudanese side Al Khartoum from 2014 to 2017 and also was the assistant coach of the Black Stars from 2007-2012.

He was made the Ghana head coach in 2012 and qualified Ghana for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil before he shown the exit same year.

The former Kotoko player had his third stint with Ghana as the head coach from 2017 to 2020.
