The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has welcomed  the recommendations of the Kwesi Botchwey fact-finding Committee, saying it as  reflected the general concerns raised by th e founder Jerry Rawlings.

Mr Koku Anyidoho believes the party should get back to  basics and apply itself to the publics that determine the party as a social democratic party.

"If you listen to what the founder said during June 4 and if now listen to some recommendation of the Kwesi Botwey Committee, there is a “strong thread” that is running through all the messages, telling us that we cannot move forward without looking back into the past", he told joy fm

"As we move on we realise that the times and seasons have changed but it doesn't mean we cannot hold on to a lot of the values that gave birth to the party.“As a political party we believe that there is that core button that we need to press going into the future.”

The former President told a gathering in the Upper West Regional town of Wa, the NDC lost the 2016 election because it deserted its values.

He said the values – justice, probity and accountability - on which the party was founded in 1992, were disregarded.

“If we cannot get our claws off to allow for fresh leadership to emerge, then we shall sink even further,” he called for fresh leaders for the party ahead of the 2020 elections.

The the 13-member Kwesi Botchwey committee on Monday presenting a 455-page report to the party’s executives, with some recommendations, urging the leadership of the party to  “listen to the voice of the grassroots.”

It also called on the party to consider a peace-making and healing tour which it said is “extremely important” for the NDC’s political fortunes.
