France forward Kylian Mbappe has described his transfer to Real Madrid as a "dream come true," following the official confirmation of his long-awaited move on Monday evening.

The 25-year-old star will join Real Madrid on a five-year contract once his Paris St-Germain (PSG) contract expires on June 30.

His new deal includes an annual salary of €15 million (£12.8 million) and a signing-on bonus of €150 million (£128 million) to be paid over five years.

Additionally, Mbappe will retain a portion of his image rights.

"Nobody can understand how excited I am right now!" Mbappe expressed on Instagram. "A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams."

Mbappe is set to join a Madrid team that recently celebrated a La Liga title and their record-extending 15th European crown after defeating Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.

His arrival is expected to spark talk of a new Galacticos era at Real Madrid, with the prospect of him playing alongside Brazilian forwards Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, new signing Endrick, and English midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Having verbally agreed to join Real Madrid in February and announcing his departure from PSG in May, Mbappe leaves the French capital as PSG's all-time leading goalscorer, with 256 goals since his initial loan move from Monaco in 2017.

He scored 44 goals in 48 matches last season and has been the top scorer in Ligue 1 for the past six years.

At the club level, Mbappe has won seven Ligue 1 titles—one with Monaco and six with PSG—along with four French Cup winners' medals.

Internationally, he won the Golden Boot at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where France narrowly lost to Argentina on penalties in a dramatic final.

Despite his numerous accolades, Mbappe has yet to secure a Champions League title, having been a runner-up in the 2019-20 season.

His move to Real Madrid, a club renowned for its Champions League success, provides a promising opportunity to achieve this goal.
