President of All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), Mike Dada, has asked African artistes to change the narrative of Africa through the music they churn out.

Speaking at this year’s AFRIMA Business Summit which formed part of activities marking the just ended 5th AFRIMA at Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel, Accra, Dada said, Africans are more than the negative stories told about us.

“There are stories around that we are not one, we are divided but I want t o say this, let us use music to tell our stories.

"Tell the world that, we are not what is portrayed out there, we have talents too, there are super stars among us.

“Let us make the effort to change the narrative about us, that yes we may be black because of our complexion but we are not black at heart, we are good people, we love ourselves, respect what we do and are proud of what we stand for", Dada said.

Mike Dada also raised the fact that, music is a very powerful weapon, “music is a great tool, a weapon that can do a million things.

"It brings people together, when there is merry making, we use music, when we lose loved ones, music consoles us, that is how powerful music is and thankfully Africa has been blessed with so many talents so we have a lot to offer.

“Even away from that, let us look at what it does in terms of getting the youth busy, it has taken a lot of people off the street and today they have become bread winners in their homes.

'We have more and we can do more so let us do more, let us do it having in mind that Africa is one", he said.

Dada continued, “Let us not forget that the capacity is here so it is our duty to make it, to make Africa a better place.”
