Ghanaian Lawyer, actress and entrepreneur Sandra Ankobiah has advised Ghanaians especially the youth not to allow politicians use them to cause violence during December polls.

According to her, there is no point for supporters of political parties to lose their lives for politicians.

The Entrepreneur admonished Ghanaians to dialogue when issues crop up than to maim or kill themselves which does not augur well for nation building.

‘Let’s vote peacefully, there is no point going out involving ourselves with electoral violence,… you will never see a politician’s wife or children out there fighting their battles,… a politician will not be at the front line of the battlefield. They will be comfortable in their homes, you the supporter out there fighting, getting wounded and getting killed, you don’t love that politician more than their children or wives love them, there is no way you can love that politician more than his or her immediate family or extended family. Let’s not allow ourselves to be used by politicians, let’s be wise, lets vote but do it peacefully, let’s be responsible citizens,’ she urged.

She bemoaned the indifferent attitude of a section of Ghanaians especially the youth about the electoral process, entreating the youth to step out to vote during the elections.

Speaking on Ultimate FM’s Brunch and Lunch hosted by Naa Klordey Odonkor, she encouraged the youth to get involved in the democratisation process.

Sandra Ankobiah’s first time voter’s train aimed at educating the youth on electoral process, engaged students of the University of Education Winneba, (UEW), in Kumasi, Ashanti region.

Sandrah hopes to educate millions of youth across the ten regions before December 7, 2016, assuring that her project is ‘absolutely’ non partisan.

The nationwide campaign is being supported by the Electoral Commission (EC) and National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

‘We have been doing this with resource persons from EC and NCCE, so far we have been to James Town in Accra, Koforidua in Eastern region, Nima market, Sunyani, Ho Technical University, Islamic University in Accra and other places. We will be interacting with students of UEW.

This is our future, we all need to get involved in the democratisation process; be a part of it, voter apathy of the youth is not encouraging at all. The youth cannot be bothered to vote, but we have been encouraging them to just dissect the manifestos of the political parties and choose wisely.

There is so much to the whole electoral process that lots of people do not know, like electoral offences which attract imprisonment. It’s been very informative and eye opening. We have been educating first time Ghanaian voters aged 18 years and above, we will do every single region before December 7, 2016,’ she said.

She charged the political parties to embark on vigorous campaigns to change the mindset of the youth who see them same ‘because they feel like its business as usual’.
