Former President of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi has rallied support for the Black Stars ahead of the 2021 African Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.

Ghana is seeking to end the almost four decade wait for the African Cup of Nations trophy when the 33rd edition kicks off in Cameroon this weekend.

The Black Stars have not won the biennial tournament since last winning in Libya in 1982 although the Ghana team has gone close three times in 1992, 2010 and 2015 but lost all finals to neighbours Ivory Coast and Egypt.

Many Ghanaians have lost faith in the team after their dismal showing in the only preparatory game against African Champions Algeria in Qatar on Wednesday.

According to MrNyantakyi, he is Ghanaian and is solidly behind the team hoping we win the elusive AFCON trophy.

"This is my country and everybody know that and this is Black Stars," he told Accra based Onua TV.

"When the Black Stars is playing, everybody supports the team and that is what I am also going to do.

"Let us all unite and support the team because when the team perform, everybody will say Ghana and not one person's name.

"This is not the time to be saying stuff that divides the country. Let us all stay united and support the team," he added.

Ghana is in Group C of the tournament with the likes Morocco, Gabon and Comoros and will play its opening game on Monday 10th January,2022.
