Former President and Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has urged the ranks and files of the party to resolve their differences during the internal party elections in order to win the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Addressing thousands of supporters in Kumasi on Tuesday, January 24th, 2024, at the Kumasi jubilee park after the 24-hour economy sensitization mega walk, he stated that the NDC is poised to win the upcoming general elections with a united force.

According to him, the Nana Addo and Bawumia government have performed abysmally in terms of economic management, and Ghanaians are yearning for the NDC to restore the economy back on track.

He disclosed that Kumasi is the center of business, and if the economy is in a mess, it affects the residents of Kumasi more than any other region. Therefore, there is a need to remain united in order to rescue power from the NPP, which has plunged the economy into a mess.

Mr. Mahama stressed that as a country, we cannot allow a small group of people to enrich themselves with state resources. He added that nobody is going to sleep on election day and leave the counting solely in the hands of the polling station agents. It is the responsibility and duty of all members of the party.

He reiterated that the NDC has the men and women to bring the economy back and ensure that every part of the country gets its fair share of the national cake.

He said that the NDC respects the chieftaincy institutions and would not do anything to undermine them.

He lamented that Jack Toronto and his junior brother want to add VAT to electricity consumers, which he said would not help anyone. Therefore, the NPP government should not dare to add VAT to ECG consumers.

He said these show how arrogant the sitting President is and does not respect anybody, which he said the President should not be speaking like that.

He disclosed that every part of the country experiences development anytime NDC is in government, hence the need to ensure that the ranks and files of the party from the branches, Regional to National, remain united and close their differences to make the victory in the upcoming general elections a mere formality.

Some of the bigwigs that accompanied the former President to Kumasi include Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the Party, Mr. Kojo Bonsu, and Dr. Kwabena Dufour, the former flagbearer aspirants, while COP Kofi Boakye, the former Ashanti regional Police Commander, and the Director General of legal affairs of the Ghana Police Service were also sighted by the media at the gathering at the Kumasi jubilee Park.
