LG Electronics will add Amazon Alexa support for its range of Wi-Fi-enabled Smart ThinQ range of air conditioners in India. LG India has confirmed that Alexa voice support will be released starting May 1 in the country. “Both existing and new AC models in the Smart ThinQ range would get Alexa support in the country,” said Kulbhushan Bhardwaj, business head, air conditioners, LG India.

LG’s range of Smart ThinQ range of Wi-Fi enabled ACs come with a dedicated app called LG Smart ThinQ which can be installed on any smartphone including iPhones. LG has integrated voice support via Google Assistant in its Smart ThinQ range of home appliances and with Alexa support, users will now get another option.

The Smart ThinQ range of ACs and other home appliances can be turned on or off and can be entirely controlled through the mobile app. User can also set voice commands on a smart speaker to carry out multiple functions.

As far as
LG’s AC business in India is concerned, the South Korean electronics giant was among the first to opt for an all-inverter AC range in India. This means LG sells only
inverter ACs in India as the company claims that it helps save power consumption for the end user and lowers maintenance cost in the long run.

LG has launched a new range of ACs in India ahead of summers with new customisations to lower the running costs for buyers along with extended warranty. As part of its efforts to increase the lifespan of ACs, Bhardwaj added that the company is looking at innovations to eliminate gas leakages (from the outdoor unit), noise and drastically improve cooling performance in extreme summers while adding smart features as well.
