Lionel Messi is recovering well from the groin injury he picked up on 21 sept. against Atletico Madrid which forced him to sit out 3 Games already for Barca and also the upcoming World Cup Qualifying games for his Country. The Argentine attacker has completed the first phase of his recovery which until now had been restricted to work with physiotherapist, Roger Girones.

The second phase began on Monday morning at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, despite the rest of the squad being given the day off after Sunday’s defeat in Vigo. Leo was able to run continuously on the pitch, working with fitness coach Edu Pons.

The five time Balon D’or winner has his mind set on the Champions League game against Manchester City on Oct. 19. as a possible return date.
In principle, the original diagnosis was for three weeks on the sidelines. However, there will be no risks taken and no corners cut when it comes to returning to action.

The step forward in Messi’s recovery on Monday is a major boost, especially arriving after the 4-3 loss to Celta Vigo at Balaidos this past weekend.
