Veteran Ghana Premier League coach Hans van der Pluijm has derided the Ghana Premier League as bereft of talent to help the Black Stars come out of the doldrums.

He says the local league does not have quality players to help the Black Stars out of their current misery.

There has been calls from some quarters to include a lot of local  players in the Black Star set up but the Dutchman has shot it down.

Ghana failed to go past the group stages of the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon in a group that had Comoros, Gabon and Morocco.

According to the former AshGold, Heart of Lions coach, local players lack the quality for the level of Black Stars compared to their counterparts abroad.

“I believe we all have to recognize that the quality has gone down, partly due to the weather which made it difficult for the players to prepare, but I don’t think the Ghana Premier League has enough elite talents for the Black Stars,” he told Vision 1 FM.
