Libyan giants Al Ahly Benghazi have completed the signing of Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah, marking a significant step in the 23-year-old’s career after a breakout season in Ghana.

Amoah, who joined Kotoko from Accra Great Olympics last year, quickly became the club’s most lethal attacker, scoring 16 goals in 30 Ghana Premier League appearances and adding two goals in four CAF Confederation Cup matches.

Pace, precision, poise. Amoah’s blend of attacking instincts and composure made him a fan favourite at Baba Yara Stadium and a standout in the domestic league.

Amoah has scored four goals across five games in all competitions for Asante Kotoko this season and he was tipped as one of the prospects for the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the Black Stars.

His performances attracted interest from North African and Middle Eastern clubs, but Al Ahly Benghazi moved swiftly to secure his signature. The Libyan powerhouse is a regular in CAF inter-club competitions, offering Amoah a new platform to shine.

The transfer comes just hours after Kotoko’s 6–1 aggregate defeat to Wydad AC in the CAF Confederation Cup, a result that exposed the team’s continental shortcomings and lack of depth.

With Amoah’s departure, head coach Abdul Karim Zito faces the urgent task of replacing his top scorer and recalibrating the attack for the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.
