John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed concerns over Ghana’s economic challenges, attributing them to what he described as poor governance by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during their eight years in power.

Speaking at a mini-rally in Kyebi, located in the Abuakwa South Constituency, Mahama highlighted the hardships facing Ghanaians and urged residents to be cautious of the NPP’s promises. The rally was part of his five-day tour of the Eastern Region on Monday, November 18.

“Ghanaians have seen the consequences of misplaced priorities and poor leadership. It’s time for a change that truly prioritizes the people,” Mahama emphasized.

The former President argued that the NPP’s leadership has caused significant setbacks for the country, comparing the current state of affairs to the time when the NDC was in power. “The NPP government’s performance over the past eight years has been one of retrogression. Life was easier under the NDC government compared to today,” he stated.

Using a practical example to illustrate the rising cost of living, Mahama noted, “Money that could buy a meal during the NDC administration cannot get you the same meal now. Things have been tough under the NPP government.”

Mahama’s message to the people of Kyebi was clear: the time for change is now, and he believes the NDC is ready to lead Ghana towards a better future.
