Former President John Dramani Mahama is expected race back to Accra from Germany following the death of former Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.

Mr. Mahama who is currently in Berlin attending a forum on global peace and security in Africa will cut short his trip to join Ghanaians to mourn Mr. Amissah- Arthurb who served as his Vice.

The country woke up to news of the death of the Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana on Friday after he was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur was reportedly jogging in the gym at the Air Force Gym where he collapsed.

Some Ghanaian entertainment personalities have also joined the public to pay tributes to the late former Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur on social media.

He was the fifth Vice-President of the Fourth Republic and was in office from August 6, 2012, until January 7, 2017, under President John Dramani Mahama.

National Organisater of the National Democratic Congress, Kofi Adams, who showed up at the 37 Hospital Friday morning where Mr. Arthur-Arthur was pronounced dead, indicated that he has been in touch with Mr. Mahama on the sad news.

Speaking in an interview, Mr. Adams said; “On our way here, I spoke with him [John Mahama]; he is not in the country. He will be airborne by now,”

Meanwhile Mr. Mahama who appeared to have lost for words tweeted to express shock at the demise of his 2016 running mate, describing the news as “very sad”.
