The NDC flag bearer in the 2020 Election Mr John Mahama has passed a vote of no confidence in Ghana's Supreme Court in giving fair judgement even when elections have been stolen, reminding his party supporters that elections are won at the polling station.

The former president maintains  his party was robbed off victory during the December 7, 2020 general elections, which he does not believe going to the Supreme Court will avert the crime.

His utterances indicates he does not believe in settling election disputes at the court but rather at the polling station.

He has urged the party to learn some lessons from the 2020 election, in which the declaration of results was rocked with several errors by the Electoral Commission

He said he went to court just to calm down tensions but sounded a warning that the party will tackle the 2024 election in a "do or die" manner.

“The next election for NDC is going to be a ‘do or die’ affair,"  he stressed, adding that the party  "must do the right thing at the polling station."

“I’m telling all our party executives that you must be at that polling station and make sure the right thing is done”, Mr Mahama noted.

He continued: “You must be at the collation centre and make sure the right thing is done”.

“Don’t abdicate your responsibility at that level and expect that after somebody has stolen the election, you go to the Supreme Court to see if they will turn the election for you; they won’t do it."

Despite facing some backlash over his choice of words with some calling on him to retract, the former president still stands by his words.

In an interview to a Techiman-based Akina Fm on Tuesday, 7, 2021 as part of his nationwide thank you tour, Mr Mahama said his call for do or die approach is meant to protect the sanctity of the ballots.

“It’s a ‘do or die’ affair. It’s an English idiom, he said.

"Everybody should look it out in the dictionary. It’s different from ‘all die be die’. I say it’s a ‘do or die’ affair."

"They say whatever happens learn from it. In 2020 we have also learnt our lessons. The elections would be won or lost at the polling station. He said

“We won’t wait for collation center or Supreme Court, no! At the Collation Center and Polling Station we would do everything possible to make sure that the election is Free and Fair.” The 2020 Presidential Candidate for the NDC warned.

The NDC alleged several errors in the electoral results but the EC boss was covered by the court from appearing for questioning.
