President John Dramani Mahama has directed all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to declare their assets by 15th July 2025, in line with the 1992 Constitution.

Speaking at an orientation and training programme for MMDCEs in Accra on Wednesday, June 18, the President stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in public service.

"I wish to remind you that you are among the office holders required to declare your assets, and so I expect that by July 15, all of you will have declared your assets," President Mahama stated.

According to Article 286 of the Constitution, all public officials must declare their assets when they are appointed and again after they leave office.

Since taking office in January 2025, President Mahama has made asset declaration a top priority in his fight against corruption. He has ensured that all his appointees comply with the constitutional rule.

He also warned that any MMDCE who fails to meet the deadline will face sanctions, just as some appointees have already done.
