Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has been handed a call up by the head coach of the Black Stars C.K Akonnor ahead of the double header World Cup qualifiers next month.

The midfielder has been overlooked on numerous occasions by several Black Star coaches despite playing and starring for his clubs abroad.

Ashimeru was last handed a call up for Ghana's two friendly matches against Ivory Coast and Morocco in May but barely played any minute in both matches.

He has that debut played for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, St Gallen in Switzerland and now plays for Belgium giants Anderlecht.

Before that call up in May he had been overlooked by various coaches since last making his debut for Ghana in 2017 when Ghana played against Benin in a friendly match.

With Thomas Partey nursing an injury although has been named in the squad and the absence of Kudus Mohammed , the 23 year old will hope to get some game time.

Ghana is scheduled to host Group G opponents Ethiopia on Friday, September 3 in Cape Coast, before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Johannesburg respectively.
