Multiple award winning Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie has made history as the first ever artiste to win the Best Int'l Flow at the BET Hip Hop awards.

The rapper who was nominated alongside Falz (Nigeria), Ghetts (U.K.), Kalash (France), Lil Simz (U.K.), Nasty C (South Africa), Tory Lanez (Canada) beat stiff competition to walk with the award.

Sarkodie who dedicated the award to his daughter, Adalyn Owusu Addo (Titi) urged the audience to visit Ghana as part of the Year of Return celebrations.

“I just want to say thank you to the Almighty God. To family, this one is for my lil girl Titi…. I think Africa has always had it and it is about that time. This year is the Year of Return and I will urge each and every one of you here to take a trip back home.”

This is not Sarkodie’s first nomination from the BET as he has had nominations in 2012, 2014 and 2015.

Out of these three, he won the Best International Act: Africa alongside WizKid in 2012.

The 2019 edition of the BET Hip Hop Awards made a return to Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Center after vacationing in Miami for the last two years.

The event was hosted by American comedian, actor and entertainer, Lil Duval.
