Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for a truce between a member of parliament for Kpando and a suburb of the area, Sovie.

The Sovie township and Della Sowah, Member of Parliament for Kpando have reportedly endured a frosty relationship over the years.

Some residents of Sovie told Asiedu Nketiah their MP does not respect their chiefs and elders, saying she did not meet with them when invited.

Speaking at the Sasadu festival of the Sovie Traditional area on Saturday, 19th November, 2016, Nketiah, affectionately known as General Mosquito, said the rift was not in the interest of the NDC.

The rift was damaging to NDC presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama's bid for re-election, he said.

"Anger can not be a sustainable fuel for development. What you are doing will only mean you tying Mahama's hands and putting him in the goal post," he said.

Though they may be angry with MP Sowah, the NDC chief scribe said there was the need to consider her and hope for an amicable solution to the problem, since the party could not afford to lose the seat.

"Don't look at whoever is beside the umbrella on the ballot sheet. Vote for Della Sowah on election day for victory,"he told the crowd.

In response, some elders present at the gathering thanked him for coming and promised they would adhere to his call.
