Ghanaian forward Malik Abubakari endeared himself to fans of his new club HJK  Helsinki on Saturday as he scored on his competitive debut.

The forward came from the bench to score the final goal in his side's 3-1 Veikkausliiga match against VPS.

Abubakari joined his new club on loan from Swedish side Malmo FF and had a dream debut as he put the icing on the cake in what was a nervy 2-1 score line.

Compatriot Prosper Ahiabu started the game but made way for Arttu Nutinen in the 85th minute.

Malik Abubakari joined Malmö FF from the Portuguese side Moreirense in the summer of 2021 for around $661,638.

The Ghanaian striker scored just six goals in 36 games for the club but his controact with MFF has been extended to December 2025.

HJK Helsinki is currently lying second in the Finnish League and will be playing in the Champions League second-round qualifier on Wednesday against Viktoria Plzen.
