Manchester United are keen on signing Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu from La liga side Real Valladolid according reports in England.

The 20 year old defender has been in the form of his life this season after gaining promotion from Valladolid's team B in the summer.

Salisu has been a revelation in the Spanish la liga placing clubs in and outside Spain on alert.

Manchester United who conceded three goals against Sheffield Wednesday over the weekend may do with a defender who can actually defend.

The Ghanaian is said to have a modest release clause of 12 million euros in his contract which will not prove difficult for united.

Salisu is also of interest to other premier league sides including Norwich and Southampton in the battle to sign Salisu with fellow Premier League sides Everton and Newcastle also interested.

Salisu is yet to extend his contract at the Spanish club and the centre back, whose agent is Mata's father, is being tipped with a move to Old Trafford. United midfielder Mata is also represented by the same agency.

The 20 year old Ghanaian centre back has one goal in 13 La Liga appearances this campaign after being promoted from the side's 'B' Team for the start of this season.
