Asante Kotoko head coach, Mariano Barreto has been charged by the Ghana Football Association(GFA) for making unsavoury comments about match officials in the Ghana Premier League.

The Kotoko coach has made some comments which the GFA deems unsporting towards match officials before and after games and has therefore been summoned.

Speaking in an interview, acting Communications Manager of the club David Obeng Nyarko says that the coach did not bring the Ghana Premier League into disrepute and only meant well due to the spate of injuries suffered by players in the league.

"We have heard that they have charged him based on some of his utterances we will also put our defense because we believe that whatever he said must also be backed with evidence."

"He did not bring the Ghana Premier League into disrepute he only stated facts so we will also go and prove our facts.

We must realize that this happens to top top managers all over the world because maybe they are talking about something they believe in and needs to change."

"So he must be given a fair hearing to say his side of the story because we all believe it is for the good of Ghana football.

We all saw the bad injury suffered by Justice Blay due to a poor tackle some time ago." he concluded.
