Host, Kwame Sefa Kayi, popularly known as Chairman General is pushing for the legalization of cannabis for commercial and medicinal purposes.

However, he said regulations must be put in place by governments to curtail the abuse of the substance if its legalization is pushed through.

Currently, the laws of Ghana prohibits the use of the substance which makes one culpable of been reprimanded if caught with the substance.

Meanwhile, the ace journo during a discussion segment on his flagship morning show program Kokrokoo last Tuesday opined it was high time the Government of Ghana legalized the substance to boost the country's economic revenue.

Explaining however further on Entertainment Review hosted by Akwesi Aboagye on same network Saturday, Chairman General indicated there was nothing wrong with the country exporting the drug since according to him, some countries in Europe and the United States have started the course and making so much financial gains through that.

He said marijuana sells higher than cocoa, timber and other natural resources which the country has relied on over the years, indicating the weed, if legalized, could also be used for recreational, research and medicinal purposes.

"Go to the U.S and Europe and verify for yourself, 1 metric ton of marijuana is sold for 10 million dollars. People are buying it in large quantities like 10 tons, 20 tons, and 50 tons", he stated.

According to him, several people have taken to social media and other international platforms to jab him after he added his voice to the legalization of the weed substance but he cared less since he believed it was a wake up call for all as a nation to take a second look at.

Sefa Kayi cleared the air that he was not for the abuse and smoking of the substance.

Quizzed on whether he [Chairman General] smoked weed, he said: "Never! I don't smoke weed".

Meanwhile, other top personalities like Dr Akrasi Sarpong, Dr Akwasi Osei, Kwesi Pratt and Black Raster have also added calls for the legalization of marijuana, including the late UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan.
