Asante Kotoko have a date with destiny today as they face Coton Sport de Garoua at the Stade Militaire in Cameroon in the first leg game of the playoff stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor's Porcupine Warriors hope to reach the group stage of the 2018/19 campaign, but face a stern test from the Central African club in Yaounde at 3:30 PM local time and 2:20 PM in Ghana.
The Ghanaian giants arrived in Yaounde on Friday with 18 players, including the notable goalkeeper; Felix Annan; skipper, Amos Frimpong; midfield dynamos, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Kwame Bonsu, Maxwell Baakoh and goal-poacher Songne Yacouba.
But, they, however, must handle the challenge of Coton Sport's attacker and captain of the Niger national team, Daouda Kamilou; Cameroonian midfielder, Gerard Donald, and Togolese goalkeeper, Bassa Djeri.
The outcome of the game could affect the second leg slated for Kumasi on Sunday, January 20, 2019, and the Porcupine Warriors will fight for a positive result against coach Bertin Ebwelle’s side to help their course in the reverse fixture in Ghana.
