“If God is alive, there are some people he must punish severely, including President Akufo-Addo. He has destroyed education totally! He has destroyed Ghana’s children…”

The following are some of the words of National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in an interview re-streamed by MyNewsGh.com in which the NDC official went berserk attacking the Free SHS program and President Akufo-Addo’s person.

According to Mr. Akamba, he has never taken President Akufo-Addo “as a serious person”, scoring him “zero on good governance, zero on free SHS because he has not done anything for the past five years”

His remarks on Afia Pokua Vim Lady’s Okay FM show come less than 48 hours after President Akufo-Addo was honoured by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) for his unprecedented contribution to the development of education in the country, with particular reference to the implementation of the free senior high school policy.

He received a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership (Honoris Causa) which is the first to be given to a President by a Ghanaian university. It is the third for the President — the first was an honorary Doctor of Laws degree conferred on him in May 2016 by the Fort Hare University of South Africa, while the second was conferred on him by the University of Liberia in December 2017.

Yellow card, green gold

Akamba however claims the program is a failure and is destroying the education system in Ghana. According to him, parents spend more on remedial classes as the children spend less time in school.

“Today they have brought some yellow card or green gold and they go to school for three months and stay at home for so long then you spend on remedials and you spent 5 million cedis.”

He refused to heed to Vim Lady’s facts about increase in enrolment numbers and performance which called “faked”.

“I have always told you Akufo-Addo cannot do the free SHS. You remember my video in Tempane? I knew Akufo-Addo cannot do it. I went round and exposed the Free SHS for the whole Ghana to see.” He said.
