The management of McDan Group has expressed disappointment in the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) over the shutdown of its Private Jet Terminal over a $3 million debt.
The debt reportedly comprises land leases, rentals, and terminal charges accumulated over a period.
In a statement signed by the CEO, Kwaku Ampromfi said the company acknowledges its financial responsibilities concerning the use and operation of the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at the terminal.
In this regard, they have made significant payments previously and last week, they made an additional payment with the plan to continue payments from January 2025.
However, the statement emphasised that McDan Aviation does not owe GACL $3,000,000.00 on the terminal as erroneously reported.
“Additionally, we are currently involved in a legal dispute concerning a parcel of land acquired from GACL on the Spintex Road. A third party has raised litigation issues, resulting in court proceedings.
“GACL is aware of this situation, and we have communicated that payments will remain on hold until the court case is fully resolved,” the statement read in parts.
The statement added, “It is regrettable that GACL has chosen to take this line of action, particularly when the matters at hand are not interconnected.
“Nevertheless, we remain committed to engaging in constructive dialogue to achieve a favorable resolution.”
McDan Aviation launched its private jet terminal and services on January 28, 2022, but the event was boycotted by key figures in the aviation sector, including the Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, and officials from GACL, who raised concerns about its operations.
