Medeama SC's flawless Premier League run came to an end after a thrilling 0-0 draw with Heart of Lions at the TnA Stadium on Saturday evening.
The defending champions were unable to break down a resilient Heart of Lions side, despite creating several chances throughout the game.
Nebojsa Kapor's men were determined to maintain their 100 percent start to the season but were continuously frustrated by an outstanding performance from Heart of Lions goalkeeper Lawrence Osei.
Osei made a series of spectacular saves, earning admiration from the home crowd and keeping his team in the game.
Medeama came closest to scoring when substitute Prince Owusu hit the post with a powerful strike, while Diawise Taylor missed a golden opportunity, failing to convert with only Osei to beat.
Winger Osah Bernandinho Tetteh and defender Kamaradini Mamudu also came close, but their efforts were not enough to secure a goal.
On the other side, Heart of Lions forwards Kwadwo Obeng Junior and Abednego Tetteh posed a consistent threat in attack, but Medeama's defense held firm, resulting in both teams sharing the points.
Despite the draw, Medeama remains top of the table with 10 points from four matches and has an outstanding fixture against FC Samartex 1996 on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
Heart of Lions have climbed to fourth place with seven points from five matches. The remaining Premier League matchday 5 fixtures will take place across the country on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
