The Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium, funded by the Goldfields Ghana Foundation, is progressing according to schedule and is expected to be ready for use by March 2024.
During a media briefing organized by the Goldfields Ghana Foundation at the TnA Stadium, Project Manager Roger Adama revealed that the venue's completion is anticipated in the first quarter of 2024.
"There are several things to be done before the facility can be handed over to the Municipal Assembly and the National Sports Authority"
“The works outstanding are; Playing pitch, External works i.e. car parks, walkways, connection to public utility services, horticultural landscaping, Removal/refixing of clear sheets, Installation of floodlights and other key things,” he indicated
He outlined several remaining tasks that must be accomplished before the facility can be handed over to the Municipal Assembly and the National Sports Authority.
These tasks include finalizing the playing pitch, completing external works like car parks and walkways, connecting to public utility services, implementing horticultural landscaping, removing and re-fixing clear sheets, and installing floodlights, among other essential elements.
The Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium project commenced three years ago, with the Goldfields Ghana Foundation having invested over US$13 million out of a budgeted total of US$16 million.
This development implies that Medeama Sporting Club will not be able to use the stadium for their CAF Champions League group games scheduled to begin in November 2023.
