Ghanaians, especially those living in slum areas, have been cautioned to be extra careful as the country enters the harmattan season.

“Those living in wooden structures should be careful because it is dry and anything can trigger fire”, Duty Forecaster at Ghana Meteorological Agency, Adom Derkye, told Onua News.

Most part of the country started experiencing a change in the weather condition on Tuesday with some difficulties in breathing freely.

Reports from parts of the regions depict a dry weather with little sunshine.

Speaking in an interview with Onua News, Mr. Adom Derkye said the weather condition has been there but the coastal areas such as Accra, Western, Central and Volta are now experiencing it.

He said the forest areas and the savanna areas [Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and the three Northern Regions] are the hardest hit.

Mr. Adom Derkye bemoaned the low level of publicity on weather condition in the country until something terrible happens.
