Former Asante Kotoko captain Michael Akuffo has emphasized the importance of providing psychological support to the club's players to help them overcome their recent poor run of form.

The Porcupine Warriors have faced a challenging period, going seven games without a win, which has intensified pressure on head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and the squad.

Akuffo believes that Kotoko, as a prominent club, should adapt to modern methods and incorporate psychological assistance for the players to boost their confidence, irrespective of their opponents.

"The game is evolving, and clubs must adapt. We need to change our approach, especially big clubs like Kotoko. They require a psychologist behind the scenes," Akuffo stated during an interview on 3FM.

He emphasized the need for players to exert maximum effort to meet the club's standards and achieve the desired results.

Akuffo urged senior players like Danlad to rally the team and instill a sense of determination to overcome their current challenges.

"With pressure mounting on the coach, the players also feel it. It's crucial for the players to step up and take responsibility," Akuffo added.

Asante Kotoko currently occupies the 11th position on the Ghana Premier League table with 33 points, having only secured one victory in their last 10 matches, along with seven losses and two draws.

Their upcoming fixture against league leaders Samartex presents another tough test for the struggling side.
