Ghana U-23 assistant coach, Michael Osei has appealed to the Ghana Football Association to give local coaches without the CAF license 'A' certificate some time to acquire the needed badges.

His plea comes following directives from the Football Association that only coaches with the elite certificate would be allowed on the touch line of Premier league and division one clubs this season.

Several experienced trainers in the Ghana leach are yet to acquire the required license and Michael Osei believes those coaches should be given some special dispensation to continue working while they go through the process of getting the license.

Speaking on Kumasi based OTEC FM, the former Asante Kotoko and Liberty Professionals trainer said coaches without the required qualification should be given some time to acquire it.

"The FA should give the local coaches without license 'A' time to acquire the certificate", Osei said.

"For example, an experienced coach like Johnson Smith who lead Karela Fc to perform better in the league really shows he is competent and needs to be given the opportunity to work on his certificate", he added.

Michael Osei also called on the football Association to give those coaches an interim certification which will allow them work this season.

"The FA should give them [Coaches without license 'A'] some approved paper (certificates) for the meantime until they complete their license 'A' certificate", he said.

"We the coaches with license 'A' expect to have the old footballers on board to make our coaching system competent and competitive.

"Coaching is easier for former footballers because they have tasted the grass before, currently, a lot of coaches in Europe are former players so we need to find some way for our local coaches to acquire for the license 'A' certificates" the trainer concluded.

Earlier this week, Wa All Stars trainer and former Black Stars right back John Paintsil, who is yet to acquire his CAF license A coaching certificate also appealed to the GFA to give him a special dispensation to continue his work while he go through the process of getting the license.
