Ghanaian striker Michael Sarpong was on target for his Tanzaniana club Young Africans (YANGA) in their Tanzanian Mainland league opener.

YANGA drew 1-1 with Tanzanian Prison SC at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday evening in a game that had nothing to separate both sides.

The away side took the lead in the game after just six minutes through Lambert Sabiyanka before the Ghanaian striker Sarpong pulled parity for YANGA with what is his first goal for his new club.

Sarpong  joined the Tanzanian side on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Rwanda side Rayon Sports.

The former Dreams FC striker was embroiled in a controversy at his former club as he was accused of insulting the club President Sadate Munyakazi in a radio interview in April this year.
