Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), Mr. George Afriyie is pleased with the provisional squad named by Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac.

The Serbian trainer on Tuesday announced a 30 man squad which is predominantly made up of foreign based players for the African Cup of Nations tournament which starts next month in Cameroon.

Some five local players most of whom have excelled in the Ghana Premier League have been rewarded with a place in the squad.

“I have known especially David Abagna from Wa All Stars to Ashgold and now to RTU and with the inclusion of Maxwell Abbey-Quaye and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, it makes the squad perfect," he told Asempa FM.

“We don't have enough and for me, Milovan Rajevac has given us a perfect squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon].

“I support this call-up and we all need to come on board and support the team ahead of the Afcon because Milovan has presented us a perfect squad,” he added.

The Black Stars will begin camping in Doha for a period of 17 days to prepare for the Tournament which kicks off on Sunday, January 9, 2021.

Ghana are expected to play three friendly matches in Qatar before they emplane to Cameroon for the tournament. The Black Stars are housed in the same Group with Morocco, Comoros and Gabon and will open their campaign against the Atlas Lions (Morocco) on January 10, 2022.
