The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif believes Team Ghana would win laurels at the Olympic Games and appealed to corporate entities to support least financed sports including boxing, weightlifting, tennis to develop in the country.

Twellium Industrial Company, producers of Verna Mineral water, Rush Energy drink on Wednesday, May 19 signed a sponsorship agreement with GOC which was graced by the Minister.

Mr. Ali Ajami, Chief Marketing Executive of Twellium Industrial Company said his outfit was proud to come on board to support and urged athletes who have qualified to the Olympic Games in Japan this year to win medals to make Ghana proud.

He said talents abound in Ghana, adding that the athletes need support and grooming to harness their potential to reach their goals.

Mr. Ajami added that Ghanaian athletes were capable of being champions at the international front and reaching that target comes with huge funds.

“Olympic Games come with huge expenses and with support, Ghanaian athletes are capable of becoming champions,” he expressed.

The National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General, Prof. Peter Twumasi thanked Twellium for the support and congratulated them on their contribution to develop Ghana sports.

Mr. Michael Aggrey, Chef de Mission of Tokyo 2020 announced that the IOC and Japanese Sports Authorities has agreed that the Games would come on and Team Ghana will leave a month ahead to prepare and acclimatize in Inawashiro, in Japan.

Marketing Manager of Ashfoam Ghana, Nana Yaw Ampim - Darko Antwi revealed that his company will pay for the kits of Team Ghana.

Mr. Andrew Lamptey, Service and Sales Manager of Toyota Ghana said they are also in support of the GOC.

The President of the GOC, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah expressed gratitude to Twellium, Ashfoam and Toyota Ghana for their unflinching support towards Ghana’s participation at the Olympic Games which comes off from July 28 to August 8, 2021.

He urged the media to project sports positively rather than picking on negatives that drive sponsors away.

Mr. Albert K. Frimpong, Chairman of the Marketing &Sponsorship Committee of the GOC appealed to Ghanaian companies to support the Olympic Team and preparations for future events.

The two-year sponsorship deal which makes Twellium, the Water and Beverage Sponsor of the GOC is subject to renewal after the initial contract elapses.
