Head coach of the Black Stars, C.K Akonnor says that the seven players who will be missing in action when Ghana face South Africa this evening will be no excuse for the team.

He says Ghana is very prepared even with the absence of the key players who did not travel due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Ghana team is a much changed line up following the unavailability of some seven players five of which are players who play in the English Premier League.

Players in England have been barred from traveling to red listed countries and so clubs in England have prevented their players from traveling to South Africa with the like of Jordan Ayew, Jeffrey Schlupp, Daniel Amartey, Andy Yiadom and Baba Rahman will all not feature for Ghana.

Kamaldeen Sulemana and St Pauli's Daniel Kofi Kyereh have been recalled by their clubs due to minor knocks sustained in the Ethiopian game.

Speaking on Sunday ahead of the clash, Akonnor says that the technical team was aware that is why 32 players where handed an invitation.

"Don’t forget we invited 32 players because we were aware of the situation, so we are prepared. We knew that the England based players might not come here with us because of the COVID-19 situation and so we were prepared and we knew exactly what will happen so it’s not going to be an excuse" he said.
