Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank lauds Mohammed Kudus after eye-catching debut

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank has showered praise on Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus following a dazzling debut in their 2-0 preseason victory over Reading on Saturday.

The Premier League giants, who recently clinched the Europa League title, secured the win at the Select Car Leasing Stadium with Kudus making an immediate impact after coming on as a second-half substitute.

The former West Ham United star, making his first appearance since completing a high-profile switch to Spurs, delivered a standout performance that included an assist and a series of impressive attacking moves.

Kudus, 23, linked up seamlessly with his new teammates, showcasing sharp movement, vision, and creativity throughout his cameo. He ended the match having created the most chances (3) of any player on the pitch.

Speaking after the match, Spurs manager Thomas Frank highlighted Kudus' qualities and his potential impact this season.

"Mo Kudus — he’s the newest one. I thought he was exciting to watch," Frank said. "He had four or five very good actions where you could really see what he’s about — his pace, his one-on-one skills, the way he can twist and turn going forward. That was a positive."

The Ghana international will now aim to build on his strong start as Tottenham prepare for the 2025/26 campaign, with expectations high for the dynamic midfielder to play a key role in the club’s domestic and European ambitions.
