Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus scored his first goal for West Ham United on Thursday, 21 September 2023, during their Europa League Group A opener against Serbian side Backa Topola.

Kudus, who joined the English Premier League outfit this summer, made a significant impact in the match.

He played a role in West Ham's first goal, an equalizer, when he forced Nemanja Petrovic to direct a cross into his own net.

Later in the game, he met James Ward-Prowse's corner with a well-placed header that found the bottom corner of the net, putting West Ham ahead 2-1 on the scoreboard.

Backa Topola had initially taken the lead in the 45th minute through Petar Stanic. However, Tomas Soucek, who came off the bench, scored the third goal for the Hammers, securing a winning start to their Europa League campaign.
