Former Hearts of Oak star Mohammed Polo has voiced concerns that the club is currently missing the blessings needed for success amid ongoing struggles on the pitch.

The Phobians have encountered significant difficulties, finishing last season in 14th place and currently sitting 11th in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League after a rocky start that saw them lose their first two matches.

However, the situation improved on Sunday when they secured a 2-0 victory over longtime rivals Bechem United at the University of Ghana Stadium.

In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, Polo, who dedicated 21 years to Hearts of Oak, lamented the poor treatment of club legends, suggesting it has adversely affected the team’s performance.

“The bad treatment of players is impacting Hearts of Oak. I have personally faced several rejections from the club, and I believe this has contributed to their recent difficulties. Honestly, they lack God’s blessings.”

Polo contrasted the situation at Hearts with that of Asante Kotoko, noting, “Asante Kotoko treats their legends better.

In Europe, clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea routinely involve their legends, allowing younger players to learn from them.”

His remarks highlight the need for a more supportive environment for former players within the club.
