In their opening match at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d'Ivoire 2023, the Atlas Lions of Morocco showcased their dominance with a convincing 3-0 win over Tanzania at the Stade Laurent Pokou.

Morocco took control of the game right from the start, creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities.

The breakthrough came when Hakim Ziyech's free kick was parried by Tanzania's goalkeeper, Salum Manula, only for Roman Saiss to capitalize on the rebound and open the scoring.

Tanzania's challenges increased when Novatus Miroshi received his second yellow card, leading to his expulsion in the 70th minute.

With a numerical advantage, Morocco continued to assert control over the game.

Azzedine Ounahi extended Morocco's lead to 2-0 with a powerful strike from inside the box at the 77th minute.

Yousseff En Nesyri sealed the victory with the third goal, calmly finding the far corner of the net after receiving a pass from Achraf Hakimi.

The goal was confirmed after a VAR review.

Morocco's next challenge in Group D will be against DR Congo on January [next date].
