The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), in collaboration with Customs officials, has intercepted a 20-foot container loaded with high-strength Tramadol at the Tema Port.
The seizure, which occurred around 4:40 p.m. during a routine inspection, revealed ninety-nine cartons of TRAMAL-X120, a powerful drug formulation that combines Tramadol and Carisoprodol at a strength of 120 mg—well above Ghana’s legal limit of 100 mg for Tramadol-based medications.
Officials also discovered a quantity of sisal fiber packed in the container, which had been declared as general cargo.
The container was flagged during standard port procedures and was found to contain the concealed controlled substances upon thorough inspection and unstuffing.
Authorities have since impounded the container, and a full investigation is underway to uncover the individuals or groups responsible for the attempted illegal importation.
The Narcotics Control Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public health and national security by cracking down on the trafficking of prohibited substances.
