Namibia produced a stunning upset in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, defeating 2004 champions Tunisia 1-0 in Tuesday's Group E opener.

In a first half with few chances and a lack of sharpness from both sides, the game remained cagey.

Tunisia, dominated possession but struggled to break through Namibia's resilient defense, led by Ivan Kamberipa.

Despite Tunisia's efforts, the Brave Warriors held firm, frustrating their opponents with tireless industry and organization. As the game progressed, the frustration grew for the Carthage Eagles, unable to find a breakthrough.

In the 89th minute, Namibia delivered a monumental upset. Deon Hotto capitalized on a long ball over the top, outpacing the defense and calmly slotting the ball past Bechir Ben Said.

Namibia's resolute defense held on for the clean sheet, securing a historic three points. The Orlando Pirates winger, Hotto, thought he had a second goal, but the offside flag denied him.

This shock victory places Namibia at the top of Group E with 3 points, making them a team to watch in the tournament.

Tunisia will look to recover against Mali on January 20, while Namibia faces South Africa on January 21.
