Ghanaian defender Nathaniel Adjei has bid an emotional farewell to Hammarby IF after completing a transfer to French club FC Lorient.

Adjei, who joined Hammarby IF two and a half years ago, spent the latter half of the season on loan at Lorient.

His impressive performances prompted Lorient to make the loan deal permanent, making Adjei the most expensive player in the history of the Swedish Allsvenskan.

Adjei expressed his gratitude and fondness for his time at Hammarby in a heartfelt social media post, thanking his former teammates, staff, and the club's supporters.

“Hey everyone. It has been nearly three years since my arrival at Hammarby,” Adjei wrote.

“My ambition has always been to help Hammarby grow and become even more amazing than it already is, and that has been my purpose since the day I signed.”

He continued, “I have had many wonderful experiences as well as some more challenging ones while I have been at this lovely club.

I was always surrounded by amazing supporters at a fantastic club, both in good and bad times. I will always cherish the fact that you supported me at my darkest moments.”

Adjei also expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to play at Tele2 Arena, home of Hammarby IF. “It’s a privilege to have been able to perform, had fun, and smile in a Stadium as special as Tele2Arena with all of our amazing supporters.”

He concluded, “Additionally, I would like to thank all of my teammates, the staff, and everyone else who has always had such faith in me.

Today marks the conclusion of a period in our life that we will never forget. My fondness for Hammarby will be eternal. Forza Bajen.”

During his tenure at Hammarby IF, Adjei made 24 appearances and scored one goal. He also played 15 times for FC Lorient in the latter part of the French Ligue 1 season, showcasing his talent and contributing to the team's efforts.

Adjei’s permanent move to FC Lorient represents a significant step in his career, and he leaves Hammarby IF with the best wishes of his former club and its supporters.
