The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has cautioned residents within the Adansi Asokwa District to be careful not to deal with wrong persons with regard to the on-going sim card re-registration exercise.

This caution comes after the Adansi Asokwa NCCE team headed by George Amponsah Boateng (PCEO) during their routine education gathered reports from some residents of Asokwa on how some persons thronged their communities and charged them 5Ghc each in a bid to register their sim cards.

Upon investigations by the Asokwa NCCE team, it was ascertained that these uncertified persons were never authorised to do the registration.

A check on the phones of the victims revealed their sims were not duly registered.

These unsuspecting victims were unfortunately thinking they had successfully registered their sim cards when unknown to them their biometrics were not taken by the said fake registrants.

The perpetrators of the crime intentionally captured their fingers with a phone camera to deceive them into believing that their biometrics were taken.

The NCCE team therefore moved to the communities within the District to caution them to be extra careful in dealing with people who pose as sim card registrants.

Community Information Centres and one on one approach mode of communication were used to pass on the education.

Meanwhile, the public after registration is encouraged to dial *400# to verify a successful registration.
