The deputy general secretary of the New Patriotic Party Nana Obiri Boahen is warning that the National Democratic Congress is digging its own grave; refusing to accept that its 420 thousand cedi flagbearership fee is excessive and overbearing.

Mr Obiri Boahen foretells that the party will end up losing a mass of its Non-Mahama-followers; loyal to the other 12 candidates who have raised issues with the cut throat fee.

He points out that the party will be breeding divisions within its fold if it continues to indulge groups like the party executives from Asawase who paid for the filing fee of the former president John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking to Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador, Mr Obiri Boahan insisted that the party executives have staged a bias drama to skew things to favour John Dramani Mahama and are not fit for their offices.

He contended. “It is a clear calculated way of skewing the system for former President Mahama and no one else and definitely it is going to be a disaster for them. Mahama is perhaps the only one who can mobilize that amount of money and speaking as an objective politician, it will generate apathy,”

Explaining further he indicated that “a lot of the aspirants cannot meet this condition so they will not go and pick the forms and their supporters and sympathizers will not vote and it is dangerous for them.”

Some aspirants have petitioned the party’s founder Jerry John Rawlins and the Council of Elders of the NDC calling for the reduction of the fees for picking up forms which stands at twenty thousand and the filing fee which has been pegged at a whopping four hundred thousand cedis.
