Veteran Ghanaian pollster Ben Ephson of the Daily Dispatch has poured cold water on the political aspirations of Ghanaian actor John Dumelo.

According to Ephson, Dumelo is unlikely to win the Ayawaso West Wuogon Parliamentary seat, currently held by Mrs Lydia Alhassan, the widow of late MP Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.

Speaking on Starr Fm earlier today, Ephson said Dumelo winning the seat would be a ‘big surprise’, adding he hurt his political ambitions by not contesting in the by-election held after the late MP’s death.

“If John Dumelo wins the seat in Ayawaso West Wuogon, I’d be surprised. If he really wants to be political, he should have participated in the by-elections,” Ephson said.

John Dumelo has kicked off his campaign in earnest and has already entered the politician’s mindset after he was spotted cleaning gutters in Abelempke.

As to whether all those ‘tricks’ would be enough for him to win, Ephson does not think so.
