Some aggrieved supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) stormed the Kumasi Airport to lay their grievances to John Mahama about happenings in the Asawase Constituency.

Tension has been brewing over who represents the NDC in the Asawase constituency, which is a stronghold of the party in the Ashanti Region.

Incumbent Member of Parliament and Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak is being contested in the primaries by one Masawudu Mubarick.

However, Mr. Mubarick had been prevented from filing his nominations despite protests by his supporters, who besieged the Ashanti Regional NDC office.

En route to addressing a gathering at the Kumasi Technical University, Mahama was met at the Kumasi Airport by some aggrieved supporters of Mr. Mubarick.

They complained to the NDC flagbearer and demanded that he intervenes to ensure their candidate gets a fair hearing.

The group, however, resorted to chanting invectives in a bid to make their point clear to the former President.

They shouted “No Masawudu, No Vote” as Mahama used one of the exit facilities after touching down at the airport.

“It is time our flagbearer talked to us. The happenings at the party at Asawase is unfortunate,” one of the aggrieved youth said.

“Even the former president himself was contested…we cannot afford to lose the seat to our opponents. Masawudu Mubarick is the man to secure more votes for us in 2020 and we need him. No Masawudu, No votes,” he added.
