General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has disclosed that the election processes for the ongoing primaries at the Asawasi constituency and other areas have been suspeneded.

He says until a committee set up to address various petitions brought to them are settled and solutions preferred for those troubled constituencies, their elections cannot be held.

The General Secretary who has been visiting some constituencies for their vetting and primaries processes admitted that the exercise has so far been successful in the various constituencies where he has visited.

However, Asawase for instance has been suspended pending further determination by the committee looking into the matter.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that the party will ensure that all problems pertaining to the primaries are resolved amicably to ensure smooth elections across the country.

Anxiety and tensions heightened after an aspirant, Masawudu Mubarick, was prevented from picking forms to contest in the ongoing primaries.

His disappointed supporters aver that they will resist attempts by the executives to disqualify Mr Masawudu from contesting the Asawase MP in the upcoming parliamentary primaries.
