The 2019 edition of the world's largest annual consumer technology show CES concludes today. The four-days gadgets extravaganza, which started on January 8 in Las Vegas, is known to kickstart the technology trends that dominate the year. Some of the key launches of CES 2019 include Samsung's 219-inch TV, LG's 8K OLED TV, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 and more. Here Servify founder Sreevathsa Prabhakar talks about the technologies and trends that excited him at CES 2019. Servify is a Mumbai-based device management company with offices in US, Canada, Europe and Dubai.

Q: What according to you are the biggest innovations showcased at CES 2019?

Autonomous technology like self-driving vehicles, smart-home appliances and more, which will make life easier and help people focus on what’s really important in their lives. Large-scale commercial applications of bendable, foldable displays may now start impacting the design of technology products and gadgets this year. How we imagine TVs, phones, wearable etc today may not be the same tomorrow. Moreover, virtual assistants are becoming mainstream now as they are embedded in many of the everyday products like TVs, kitchen appliances and more. This also means that user interfaces can change completely from what we think of them today.

Q: Can you please name one technology/product launched at CES 2019 that caught your eye?

CES 2019 brought to life what I had imagined when I had heard about Ambient Computing. Thanks to virtual assistants, 5G rollout and IoT; technology is now omnipresent. And it's great to see companies pushing the pedal on integrating IoT devices and products with personalisation via artificial intelligence (AI) and intuitive interfaces. Near-term future clearly seems to be a marriage of all of IoT-driven devices with AI-enabled assistants, coupled with faster and better internet, thanks to 5G.

Q: What are the technologies/gadgets launched at CES 2019 that you think will make an impact on technology landscape in India?

The fact that there was almost no product showcased that worked without internet says a lot. Though we have seen this for the past few editions of CES, this year it is likely that smart, internet-connected products will start becoming mainstream in India. Mainly due to the fact that their prices have come down and the technology is more mature. The fast adoption and growth of 4G internet connectivity in the past two years has brought more users online, which will further boost the presence of such products in India.
